Biographies of your Point Park Faculty

 

Dr. Thanakarn Limtham is a native of Bangkok, Thailand. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano from the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied with Dr. Colette Valentine, Dr. Miguel Campinho, Dr. Tamara Sanikidze, Patti Wolf, and Rick Rowley. Thanakarn is currently working for Pittsburgh Point Park University, where he plays for dance and musical theatre classes and showcases. He is also one of Pittsburgh Concert Society’s 2022 Major Winners. Thanakarn has extensive experience collaborating with vocalists and instrumentalists, performing in opera and musical theater productions, and playing with big bands, jazz combos, chamber groups, and choral ensembles. He is passionate about encouraging the creative instincts in other people, and his main goal as an artist is to bring healing and comfort through the music that he makes. Thanakarn moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in June of 2021 to be with his wife, Britney, who was born and raised in the Pittsburgh region. He enjoys spending his free time with her and their very sassy calico cat, Jao Ying.

Baritone Franklin Mosley is a native central Pennsylvanian that relocated to Pittsburgh in 2017. He holds degrees in Vocal Performance from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Boston University. Franklin has enjoyed performing with such ensembles as Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, The Mendelssohn Choir of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, The Civic Light Opera, and the Pittsburgh Savoyards. Franklin has enjoyed success as a music director for The Heritage Players of Brookline, Mon River Arts, and the Ellis School. He currently works as an assistant professor of voice at Point Park University and the Director of Music Ministry for Baldwin Community United Methodist Church where he directs the choirs and also serves as organist.

Originally from Sayville Long Island; Mezzo-Soprano, Eva Rainforth has sung with The Pittsburgh Symphony, The River City Brass Band, The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale, The Mendelssohn Choir, and currently sings with the Pittsburgh Opera Chorus and The Pittsburgh Camerata. Off Broadway: ‘The Mikado’ @ City Center Theater. Regional: The PaperMill Playhouse, & Florida Studio Theatre. Other credits: New England Lyric Opera, Opera Northeast, The American Light Opera (co-founder), Opera Ignite, & The Paperbag Players. As an undergrad, Eva started out as a piano composition major, switched disciplines, and went on to complete a vocal performance degree at Fredonia State University. She pursued further studies in vocal pedegogy at Baldwin Wallace University. In 2019, Rainforth composed the music to Caryl Churchill’s lyrics in her play ‘Vinegar Tom’ performed at The Pittsburgh Playhouse. She has written a song cycle called “Modern American Art Songs....with a twist” (‘a series of funny and engaging songs about life’ Pgh Trib.). Discography includes “Earworms” (adult nonsense songs), and “Out of Control”.

Soprano Lara Lynn McGill has been described as “a voice of size, clarity and wide coloristic range… a three-dimensional figure who combined vulnerability with strength and tugged at the heartstrings in her every breath and movement.”  (Pittsburgh Post Gazette) Ms. McGill most recently debuted as a soloist on the Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the New England Symphony. She also made her 9thAvenue Opera debut as Zerlina in New York City. She is covering the same role with Opera Tampa this winter. She has appeared with St. Petersburg Opera in FL as Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, and also sang Pamina and Antonia in their past seasons. Other favorite roles include: Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare and Romilda in Xerxes with Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Donna Anna, Mamah Cheney in Shining Brow, The Foreign Women in Menotti’s The Consul with Opera New Jersey, Susannah in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, Sandrina, Lauretta, Adina, and her Pittsburgh Opera debut as Barbarina. Ms. McGill’s concert soloist performances range from Baroque to Vaughan Williams.  Highlights include: Bach’s Mass in B minor, Vivaldi’s and Handel’s Gloria, Messiah excerpts, Brahms’, Mozart’s, and Rutter’s Requiem, and In Terra Pax by Finzi. Lara graduated with her master’s from Eastman School of Music and her bachelor’s from University of Miami.  Her recital and competition appearances include the eastern United States, California, Idaho, Italy, Austria, and South Africa.
